Tomorrow is Commitment Sunday for 17:20 – Moving the Mountain. If every family at OCC would give $17.20 every week (above and beyond their regular giving), then our $1.6 million debt would be eliminated in five years.
Tomorrow is Commitment Sunday for 17:20 – Moving the Mountain. If every family at OCC would give $17.20 every week (above and beyond their regular giving), then our $1.6 million debt would be eliminated in five years. It’s a lofty goal, but Jesus said in Matthew 17:20 – “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” What encouraging words! I hope you and your family will have a “mustard seed faith” as we move this mountain of debt together.

You should have received a pledge card in the mail. If you didn’t or misplaced it, you can get one tomorrow. All you need to do is fill out the pledge card and drop it in the offering plate. Your pledge is for one year – 2009 only. Click here for further details.

These are exciting times! See you tomorrow.

I’m starting a new message series on Sunday, April 15th (tax day) called Good $en$e. The first message is about the dangers of debt. Here’s a question: Is it ever okay to go into debt? Most of us are probably in some sort of debt. I’ve heard people put debt into two categories – good and bad. I was talking to someone and they said there’s no such thing as “good” debt, but sometimes it is “necessary.” What about the college student? What about buying a house? How about a car?

Is it ever okay to go into debt? If so, when?

Give me your feedback.
